Hello, I'm new here and new to grafting. I had an idea about grafting that I really don't know where to start researching. I've planted 2 pear trees last year that are doing well now, but they are already tall. I was thinking if I'm going to have to prune the tops to keep them easy to harvest, can you graft the cuttings back on the tree on the lower branches? The idea sounds a little like some apple trees I've seen at an orchard where the trees looked more like small weeping willows loaded with apples. I understand that those are made by more money than I can dedicate to something like this, but if you graft the top of the crown back on to the tree lower would you get a shorter tree with close to the same fruit production of its original size?
